The Green Team!!

Who We Are

Lets Go Green!

We are a non-profit organization that strives to reduce plastic use and spread knowledge about the harmful side effects of plastic.

What we do

Our organization focuses on educating and giving back. We believe that if we simply spread knowledge and offer easy alternatives to single use plastics, the amount of plastic pollution will decrease. Furthermore, we raise money to donate to other organizations that deal with actual plastic pick up. And finally, we give back by offering reusable bags and water bottles to various members of the community.

How we operate

Go Green is stationed in Ann Arbor Michigan and focuses on spreading awareness to the University of Michigan student body. We will have people stationed around the campus's, asking students to fill out a survey. The survey is composed of different questions about the individual's own use of plastic and their general knowledge about the effects of plastic pollution. We will also be asking and encouraging any sized donation.

Harmful Effects of Plastic

Harmful gradient icon

Plastic pollution is a big issue. Continual usage and pollution of plastic products can lead to leaching of toxic chemicals into food, drinks, water, and the air. Not only does the over use of plastic directly affect us, but it also affects wildlife. Many sea creatures and birds suffocate in plastic bags, choke on small pieces of plastic, and get stuck in plastic netting and wires. These can all easily lead to death of the animal.

Our Mission

Plastic pollution has been a growing issue for many years now. It has become a significant environmental concern for all members of the public worldwide because many species are being strangled and suffocated due to getting stuck in the various plastics laying around. Our goal isn't to eliminate all plastic from the world, but instead to educate college students about the detrimental effects of too much plastic, provide suggestions on how to minimize the harmful effects of the plastics they use, and to spread awareness about alternatives to single-use plastics before it's too late.

Manufacturing more reusable items such as water bottles and grocery bags

What You Can Do

Reduce

Reuse

Recycle

One of the simplest ways to reduce pollution is to not create it in the first place. Bottom line, if you want to help, buy/use less plastic (especially one-time use plastics).

If you already have plastic containers and bags, don't throw them away. Instead, try and repurpose them/ use them for something else. For example, you can use the plastic containers from take-out to store snacks in or to pack your lunch in.

With any of the plastics that you don't want to reuse or can't reuse, try recycling them. Most plastic products have a little triangle and a number inside it. Find out which numbers can be recycled in your area and dispose of them properly.

Things need to change, and we are that change! Help us help you.
